Number of years dancing?Seven years with DancEgypt
I started dancing before I can remember. Having tried a variety of different styles of dance I thought that taking Middle Eastern dance classes would be fun and different.
I am deeply in love with it!
Compared to the other styles of dance I have taken, Middle Eastern dance
feels the most right in my body. There are so many areas pertaining to
this form of dance where I can learn and grow. Besides the movements
there is the cultural connection, the music, the language, the costuming
etc. From the top of my head to the soles of my feet Middle Eastern dance
has also helped me to develop a wonderful love and appreciation of my
body since it is through my body that I am able to express myself when
I dance. This joy I get from dancing is reinforced so much more when
I go to class and I see all the other women, so diverse in shape, size
and age, sharing the same love as me and expressing it each in their
own individual way. This aspect is truly what makes the dance so beautiful!
Currently a student at the U of S pursuing a degree in International Studies.
