Registration & Schedule

Regular classes run from September to April of each year. In April and May we host our annual Spring Thing which is a chance for students from all levels to come together and explore different aspects of dance in more depth than can be done in regular classes. This year we are running these on Monday nights at 6:30 at Elks Hall starting April 12, 2008.
Please join us!

Classes run in seven week blocks on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with registration taking place on the night of the first class. You can speed up the registration process and shorten the line-ups by downloading a registration form and bringing it in already completed. You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader® installed on your computer to view the registration form. If you don't already have it, its available as a free download by clicking the appropriate link in the box below.

Cost for classes is:

$ 70.00 plus G.S.T. for 1 hour / week / 7 weeks
$125.00 plus G.S.T. for 2 hours / week/ 7 weeks
$165.00 plus G.S.T. for 3 hours / week/ 7 weeks

What to Wear

We wear regular exercise clothes to class (lycra pants/shorts/sweats and t-shirt) or whatever else you're comfortable in. The important thing is to make sure it's not too baggy. We need to see how your hips are moving.

We usually dance barefoot so you don't need any special footwear.

You may want to bring a fringe hip scarf and usually we dancers search the second hand thrift stores for them (approx $3.00). They seem to be in fashion now so you can usually pick something up at the fashion shops for around $12-$25.00. Some people like to purchase a beaded hip scarf which can be from $35 - $100. Periodically, we will find a good supply and have, on occasion, been able to offer them to class participants for a very reasonable price. Again hip belts are optional for beginner classes.

In intermediates, we ask that you also have a veil - approx 2.5 meters x 115 centimetres of light fabric, and the cost of that can range from very cheap (old shear drapes) to very expensive (silk) depending on your own personal preferences.

At some point you may want to make a practice skirt. This again is optional. Most of us sew our own (we hold mini workshops on how-to) and for those who don't sew, we have some excellent seamstresses in class who sell skirts, costumes, veils, etc.
